吉。原筮元永贞，无咎。不宁方来，后夫凶。
Holding Together brings good fortune. Inquire of the oracle once again whether you possess sublimity, constancy, and perseverance; then there is no blame. Those who are uncertain gradually join. Whoever comes too late meets with misfortune.

彖传 · Tuan Zhuan Commentary
比，吉也。比，辅也。下顺从也。原筮元永贞，无咎，以刚中也。不宁方来，上下应也。后夫凶，其道穷也。
Bi is auspicious. Bi means support. Those below follow obediently. The original divination shows supreme and lasting correctness without blame, through being firm and central. The restless come because above and below correspond. For the latecomer there is misfortune - their way is exhausted.
现代解读 · Modern Interpretation
比卦主亲辅和合。上下相应，宜早归附。迟来者失去机会，难有作为。领导者应刚中有德，下属顺从。
Bi governs closeness and support. Above and below correspond; it's better to join early. Latecomers lose opportunity and struggle to achieve. Leaders should be firm, centered and virtuous; subordinates should follow.

On the earth is water: The image of Holding Together. Thus the kings of antiquity bestowed the different states as fiefs and cultivated friendly relations with the feudal lords.
