彖传 · Tuan Zhuan Commentary
习坎，重险也。水流而不盈，行险而不失其信，维心亨，乃以刚中也。行有尚，往有功也。天险不可升也，地险山川丘陵也，王公设险以守其国，险之时用大矣哉。
Repeated Abysmal means doubled danger. Water flows without overflowing, moving through danger without losing sincerity - the heart prevails through being firm and central. There is value in going; moving forward brings success. Heaven's danger cannot be ascended; Earth's danger is mountains, rivers, and hills. Kings and princes use danger to protect their countries - how great is the use of danger at the right time!

坎卦代表重重险阻。水性坚持流动，不盈不溢。身处险境要坚守信念，内心刚中，终能度过难关。
Kan represents repeated dangers. Water persists in flowing without overflowing. When in danger, maintain faith; with inner firmness and centrality, one can eventually overcome difficulties.

The abyss is dangerous. One should strive to attain small things only.

(Six in Third)来之坎坎，险且枕，入于坎窞，勿用。
Forward and backward, abyss on abyss. In danger like this, pause at first and wait, otherwise you will fall into a pit. Do not act.
小象: 来之坎坎，终无功也。

(Six in Fourth)樽酒簋贰，用缶，纳约自牖，终无咎。
A jug of wine, a bowl of rice with it; earthen vessels simply handed in through the window. There is certainly no blame in this.

九五
(Nine in Fifth)坎不盈，祗既平，无咎。
The abyss is not filled to overflowing, it is filled only to the rim. No blame.

(Six at Top)系用徽纆，寘于丛棘，三岁不得，凶。
Bound with cords and ropes, shut in between thorn-hedged prison walls: for three years one does not find the way. Misfortune.
