Take the left pile and count through it by groups of four. Set each group of four aside. You will be left holding 1, 2, 3, or 4 stalks.

Place the remaining stalks between the ring finger and middle finger of your left hand.

第二变

After the third transformation, count the remaining stalks by fours. The number of groups determines the line: 9 groups = Old Yang (changing), 8 = Young Yin (stable), 7 = Young Yang (stable), 6 = Old Yin (changing).
